Laney’s New Set of Wheels

Papa Schrager’s Chanukah present for Laney this year was an awesome Plasma Car.  Laney took to it like a duck to water and proceeded to tear through the house weaving through our legs at breakneck speeds with Bailey and her friend Scooter giving chase.

Bagels and Blocks 2009

On Thursday, I was invited to Laney’s school with all of the other Dads for “Bagels and Blocks.”  It was an opportunity to see Laney in class and experience part of her day with all of her friends and teachers.

In anticipation of the event, Laney filled out a questionnaire about her Dad and it was proudly posted on the wall (you can see the photo below.)  I was horrified to learn what Laney thought about me.  Apparently one of my favorite foods is her classmate Becca.  Although Becca does look cute enough to eat, I can assure you, her parents and the authorities, that at no time have I eaten her.

I also look like blue hair.  I’m not sure what that means.

After spending about an hour with Laney and her classmates dancing, singing, playing, eating, arts and crafting, jumping, climbing, yelling, laughing, rolling and running, I headed back to my car, sat down took a deep breath and thought to myself… “Holy cow.  It’s like herding cats!”

So for all of you teachers out there who might be reading this.  THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!  You really aren’t paid enough for what you do.

All in all, it was great to see Laney in her element.  She really loves her school and her class and we’re very lucky for that.

Below are a few photos from the the event.  If you’d like to see more, check out the link to the SmugMug gallery.

…and then there’s this:

Laney the Snow Bunny

It’s getting a little chilly here in The New South.  It was in the 20’s this morning!  That means two things, (actually it probably means a lot more than 2, but for the sake of this post, go with me here.)

First, it means that if I’m going to walk Bailey in my Gator shorts, I need to also wear my Gator ski jacket.  Secondly, it means the local snow bunnies come out of hibernation and proceed to multiply in cuteness.

I was lucky enough to snap a photo of one this morning right before it attacked the dog and demanded her “nacks” comprised of Cheerios and fruit thingees.
